Dear Trump Supporter…

For all of the Trump supporters out there: Where in your heart do you find the strength and the integrity to continue to support a billionaire who will continue to insult and disrespect minorities, disabled people, and other Americans ?
Why do you continue to support someone who does not apologize for the mistakes that he obviously makes? Someone who most parents would not want their children to listen to while he insults other people? I’m truly sorry if you support someone simply because they are the only one who officially represents your political party. Someone who you think shares your values and, if he really does, then you have some serious value issues.

Please answer my question, why do you continue to support this bully?

I have a brother who is disabled; I don’t want the next president to mock people like my brother. I know friends who are veterans and I don’t want the next president to disrespect them simply because of their heritage. I have a wife, a daughter and a mother… I don’t want the next president to be someone who has called women pigs.

So I ask myself, why would you? No matter how much he claims to be a conservative, to represent the values of your party, this man does not deserve our vote. If we’re going to continue to be an honorable nation , proud of our heritage , and proud of the way that we welcome immigrants and others and try to reach out for common ground, we need to take a serious look at this individual. If you are not appalled and outraged by the numerous statements of this candidate , you are not paying attention or you simply don’t care.

We should not have someone like Trump misrepresent us and be our next president. We should not support someone who belongs to the 1% and is out of touch with the majority of us who struggle to make a living. Like our current president said, if people from his own party keep saying , on a daily basis, that what Trump says is unacceptable, why continue to endorse him? Don’t you have the character and integrity to say “enough”? We should not support this opportunist and arrogant individual.

But why do you?

Jesus versus Trump: a clear distinction

img_1455

For those who still think that Trump represents conservatism and the part of America that is considered Evangelical or born again Christian, consider the following quotes from both Jesus and Trump.  You can be the judge:

Foreigners

Jesus: ” And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.”  (John 10:16)

Trump: “I will build a great wall – and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me –”

Greed

Jesus: “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions” (Luke 12:15)

Trump: “The point is, you can never be too greedy.”

War

Jesus: “Blessed are the peace makers.” (Matthew 5:9)

Trump: “There’s nobody bigger or better at the military than I am,”

Violence

Jesus: ” But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.”  (Matthew 5:32)

Trump: “… I’d like to punch him in the face, I’ll tell ya.”   –  “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any voters, okay? It’s, like, incredible.”

Enemies

Jesus: “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, ” (Luke 6:35)

Trump: “There may be somebody with tomatoes in the audience. If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously. Okay? Just knock the hell — I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees.”

Wealth

Jesus: “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” (Matthew 19:23-24).  –   “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” (Matthew 8:20)

Trump: “The beauty of me is that I’m very rich.”

Children

Jesus: “Let the children come to me… theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Matthew 19:14)

Trump: “I like kids. I mean, I won’t do anything to take care of them. I’ll supply funds, and she’ll take care of the kids.”

Ego
Jesus:  “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. ..”  (Matthew 5:5)

Trump:  “Sorry losers and haters, but my I.Q. is one of the highest -and you all know it! Please don’t feel so stupid or insecure,it’s not your fault.”
Any questions…?

“Get out of my country…!” : Is America Great?

“Get out of my country..” says an ignorant man to a US citizen. What country? The “great” America…? You tell people who are different than you and who don’t have a similar background to “get out of your country”? If America is about dividing people whose ancestors have been born in this country from people who were born in another country but who are residents or US citizens, and deport them back to their ancestors’s country, then America is not great.  If America is about deporting those who ‘cross the boundaries illegally” , then America is not great.

This is the problem with some who call themselves “Americans.”  This is the problem with nationalism. Holding on to the self defeating idea  that countries have boundaries that must not be crossed.  It is the “us against them” mentality. The “legal” versus the “illegal” way of thinking.

This is the problem with dividing, compartmentalizing, and labeling people because of personal biases. A country (as well as ethnicity, race, patriotism) is a made up idea, like most ideas, which separates us as human beings.  Believing that “we have a country” and others must stay out of our country,  is a delusion that feeds our egos. There is truly no boundaries… no borders… no lines, except in our heads.
